Ohoho! Nice topic – retail therapy.

1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
Of course I like to shop. Everyone likes the idea of getting something new. I like shopping for books and groceries most.

2. What was the last thing you purchased?
Anchor-shaped pendant and green skirt, at the same time.

3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
Actual store. You get to feel and touch the product, and chat with the salespeople.

4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
I didn’t; not till I was in JC. So I only started saving money in JC. *sigh* bank account is TINY.

5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
Batteries. Bought some, then realised that Father had bought lots the day before.

Am going to Woodlands library later!!! Before the CA period Sunday was my Library Day. The Alliance of Light proves to be more gripping than the earlier books ^^;; Anyone wants to come with me?

To antares: I see… could you help me get Sandra’s email address from your classmate please? Or give my email to Sandra’s sister somehow? Thanks in advance :)

I swear that I will never, ever become a cardiologist.

Ach.

I am using Opera now. It’s quite a cool browser with some really nice features; especially if you’re the kind of person who opens many browser windows at one go.

Eddy and I drove to Suntec with 10 people in 2 cars. Go us!

To antares: Yes, Sandra Phung. Last I heard she applied to American universities…Yale, was it? Or Stanford?

To everyone else: Thanks, but I don’t think you guys can help. Not unless you can change my genes.

i cant go back to how i was

i am doomed

THIS is so FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry or be relieved or what.
I did the first two, but am not so sure about the last.

Just caught sight of my gastrocnemius (mostly the lateral head) in the mirror. It’s really cute when contracted, for want of a better word.

Went to NUS to study in the morning, then buffet lunch with my family, then back home. I thought we’d be going out again in the evening so I worked hard even after lunch. But Father decided to fix the air-con filter instead. Argh. I feel played out. Somehow having been nowhere else besides home and NUS for the past few weeks is getting me very, very restless. ARGH. So I treated myself by watching downloaded episodes. (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy – does anyone else find that for ep 11, the sound and video don’t match?)

I have figured out how to make myself more efficient. The note-making process is the Rate Determining Step; I was trying so hard to make everything neat and organised with different colours that I spent more time organising everything in my head than actually writing stuff out. Now I’ve adapted the frenzied note-taking style I use for lectures and tutorials – pencil on blank paper. It gives me more freedom since I can erase mistakes or change layout (I’m a sucker for saving space), and allows me to do semi-mind mapping. I THRIVE on arrows. Plus blank paper is free because I shamelessly salvage erroneous copies from the recycling boxes at the photocopiers. There was so much unwanted paper in the photocopying room today that I nearly cried for joy. *hiakhiak*

Have I told you about my Work Box? I bought one of those huge boxes that close with a press-stud like button. It holds my anatomy textbooks, paper, notes, pencil case, and colour pencils. It’s a bit cumbersome to carry around, but the amount of time I spend walking is shamefully little compared to the time spent mugging, so I figured I could live with it.

It is hard. It is really hard.
Sister’s existence does not help.

come online why isn’t anyone online

my shell won’t listen to me.

Didn’t do much work today… didn’t even manage to read up for prelab tomorrow. But! Had a good time out with my family and am feeling much happier now. After dinner I popped into the furniture shop and discovered that the bass clef-shaped armchair I fell in love with a few months ago is still on display! And marked down by $100!!!!! It’s still a pricey $399, though.

After that we went to Bugis Village. I took Mother and Sister to lynn’s shop, where Mother, for the first time in decades, suddenly took an interest in the clothes displayed. (lynn sells vintage clothing.) But she didn’t buy anything. Mother doesn’t ever buy anything for herself “because there’s so much junk in our house already”. *sigh* lynn showed me the card Mayday sent her…they are such nice people!

I love shopping for clothes with Mother because:
1)Mother pays.
2)Mother has good taste and I don’t feel so guilty if I like something expensive that she thinks is nice too.
3) Mother is nice and motherly to the young shop assistants so she gets discounts.
4) Mother doesn’t have a low pain threshold of $20 (I hurt if anything costs more than $19.90)

She kept commenting that the shop owners/assistants were all sooo young. (Younger than me!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!) And how they manage to survive with low crowds and really high rentals…

Sister likes short little skirts with pleats i.e. the stuff of schoolgirl porn ^^;; So Mother kept shaking her head and saying “it’s so short…” There was some kind of sibling rivalry at work today ‘cos Mother liked all the things I took a second look at but frowned at Sister’s choices. You should have seen her face when the shop assistant told us that some particular skirt could be worn as a tube too.

In the end I got a skirt from one of the shops from Level 2. Mother complains that I don’t wear skirts. I don’t have anything against skirts, but you can’t wear sports shoes/sandals with skirts. You have to wear horrible dressy sandals or heeled shoes – and I have major issues with THOSE. Sigh. I do actually like lots of skirts out there; just that I don’t have the footwear for them. You might catch me wearing that skirt to lecture some day. AND DO NOT LAUGH. I have the habit of crossing over seats to get to the row above/below. You can’t do that in a skirt. Oh no. You can only clamber ungracefully over the seats.

Also bought an anchor pendant from the guy opposite the shop. Sigh. Spur-of-the-moment buy. I love pendants, but sooner or later I get tired of putting them on every morning and eventually stop wearing them. Yup. My ankh is sitting morosely in my cabinet right now. Don’t take them off, you say? I don’t want to be strangled in my sleep.

Year-end holiday for M1s = 3 months
Year-end holiday for M3s = 1 week
Days of leave a doctor in NUH gets = 22 per year
Days of leave a doctor in NUH actually takes = less than 22 per year
(because you have to make sure there’s someone who can cover for you before you go on leave.)
Days of leave Father takes a year = less than 20.
I knew what I’d be getting myself into before I made my decision; I’m not complaining about it, but I am aware of the fact that M1 is probably the last time I’ll ever have such a long break…so…
APRIL NEXT YEAR!!!!!! GO JAPAN!!!!! RAYDANCE COME WITH ME!!!!!! WHO ELSE!!!!! IVORY???!! RIE???!!

*cackle* The raw for Fullmetal Alchemist ep 8 is out…which means that the fansub should be out within a week. ADDICTED!!!!!! And I am in love with a 12-year-old…HELP!

I watched the first few episodes of Shingetsutan Tsukihime…I don’t understand it at all! I guess the producer’s intention is to have everyone feel as confused as the main character.

Don’t want to study. Can’t. I haven’t been somewhere other than NUS or home for a long long long time >.

Can’t wait for April next year. I HAVE TO GO TO JAPAN BECAUSE IT’S MY LAST CHANCE TO BEFORE I RETIRE!!!!! Who’s going with me?
