Happy New Year in advance, guys :)

My Ipoh cousins came over today much earlier than they were expected, so after running out of ideas on what to do, Brother and I headed for town with them. I hate going to town on public holidays or eves because it is sooooo crowded. It just had to rain too, so the underground walkways were almost impassable. We didn’t like anything on sale in the shops too (at which point, I winced as a Singaporean because Singapore is supposed to be a shopping paradise), so after going from Wisma to Zara to Far East to Heeren, we had dinner at Cinneleisure and headed home.

Total purchases:
Me: some beads from Beads Inc.
Cousin: a cord from Beads Inc.
Brother: slippers.
Cousin #2: an EZlink card.

Happy New Year, guys.

I’ve been bloghopping this morning in a bid to put off getting down to the CMCS writeup. I’m now quite inspired to up the quality of my posts once again. (subject to availability of time, that is.) I haven’t been entertained so much ever since weeming stopped updating his blog eons ago; but I’ve now found a replacement *crows* you guys know him too, he’s boyfriend to one of my friends.

Some blogs of people that we all don’t know personally (unless you’re hiding it from me):

Elyse Sewell – remember the 2nd runner-up of America’s Next Top Model 1? She’s now modeling in Hong Kong and has a penchant for photographing.

Waiterrant – This has been on raydance’s list of links for a long time, but I read it occasionally when I have nothing to do.

Nibble and Scribble – A local food blog, with recipes and reviews of eating places, complete with photos.

Who wants to go for the Franz Ferdinand concert? (even better if you know lynn, me or Penance.)

To raydance: one of the aforementioned junior is taking up *drumrolls* a relief teaching job at RGS!

And what I’ll be doing for the next month or so: going to the polyclinics conducting a survey on what I personally find an interesting topic but that the project mentor has massacred with his lack of brevity and wit. Once that’s done, I’ll be struggling with SPSS trying to drag out significant correlations from the mess of numbers. That’s not so bad, but it’s the mentor!!!! @($*%&*#*@

Today’s caroling performance at the Esplanade wasn’t a success at all, the main reason being inadequate practice. (We the bass sucked…) And of all years, they just HAVE to choose this year to start a recording service! Why not last year, where the programme was a lot more challenging and exciting and the ringers a lot more prepared! Grr. I wore the gown for the first time in four or five years, ergh. I hate it, and I’m so glad they’ll be changing the formal outfit next year.

This time I was really the oldest ringer, the next oldest two being three years younger. My sec ones! They are now sending in university applications to prestigous institutes of learning overseas and taking up well-paying temporary jobs. What am I doing with my life now? Hm.

I browsed around Marina Square’s Youth Zone before meeting up with Penance for dinner and movie. I walked into this accessories shop, where the salesgirl was so happy to see me we started chatting, about what we did on Christmas, what we plan to do for New Year, and how often we go back to Malaysia to visit relatives. After that she pointed out various earrings to me, and her enthusiasm was infectious! She really loved those particular trinkets (and I agree that they were special); but at no point did I feel pressured to buy them. More customers came and I left. What makes good, personal service? I believe part of it is wanting to make others appreciate what you appreciate.

Dinner was at Changing Appetites, just to Carl’s Jr. It’s good food at affordable prices. ($12-18 for a main course) I had the Super Bowl salad, which wasn’t so much salad with chicken as chicken with salad. Definitely worth the $13. I forgot to take photos!

Then came Narnia, reviewed below:

I don’t know how to do my CMCS report at all! Why, why, why, why on earth didn’t I follow up immediately back then >.

So being adult means taking the blame when it’s obvious (to me at least) that one of my younger siblings is at fault. Wait, not taking the blame; more like being targeted with blame. I’m not taking it lying down.

It’s undignified to fight back like a spitfire. I guess the best approach would be to pretend I have no siblings.

I’m back from Penang. Long entry about my trip ahead, but the highlights were shopping, parasailing, EATING, and spending time with my relatives.

A brief summary:

Friday: Met up with First Aunt and Uncle, went to Reptile and Orchird Farm, had lunch at Lorong Selamat, shopped at Pragin Mall and ate at a seafood restaurant on stilts.

Saturday: Shopped at Gurney Plaza, had dinner at Restoran Hollywood, took a drive around Penang.

Sunday: Grand meetup, because Third Uncle’s family (the closest in age to mine) came over from Ipoh. Parasailing, more Penang fare for lunch, more shopping and an 8-course dinner to top it up.

I’ll be away in Penang from 23-26 December. Byeeeeeeee~~~~~

Went for ktv with Penance yesterday afternoon. We’d been dying to belt out Mayday songs ever since the concert. If you ever go for K-Lunch at Cineleisure Kbox, make sure you go to Level 4 and not Level 8. They serve food on Level 4 and worms on Level 8.

We bumped into avaris and his friends there too; apart from ktv, they were also watching the preview of Narnia. Ah, this is the way holidays should be spent.
