Sorry for the dearth of posts. The 2nd week of Neurology posting has been less draining than the first, either because I’m more used to it, or I’ve slackened a little this week. I changed wards, so the current team consists of a very vocal registrar, an equally vocal MO and a laidback MO. This week hasn’t been as enlightening in terms of neurological sightings, but I’ve seen more of life issues, thanks to the reg who feels quite strongly about such things.

Other than that, I’ve been enjoying myself doing nonsense things with the rest of the people at TTSH. My groupmates WQ and SC are really fun to be with.

Erm, that’s it for this pathetic update. I’m now watching the following:

1. Nana anime

2. Ergo Proxy

3. GITS: 2nd GIG

4. Joou no Kyoushitsu (The Queen’s Classroom) - a pretty interesting dorama about an unorthodox form teacher of a Primary 6 class.

Left the wards really early today and watched Mirrormask. The visuals were dark and gorgeous. Stephanie Leonidas as Helena was really good, I felt; so was Jason Barry as Valentine. Sadly, the plot seemed rather thin. The pacing for most of it was two slow, and the ending was too abrupt. I had no problems with this when reading the book; I now understand why some reviewers have said that this movie would’ve worked better as a graphic novel. I hated the soundtrack as well, ugly music that didn’t really fit the visuals.

Well, finished another facial yesterday. (I went for two only because I didn’t know how to say No, darn.) I strongly believe that the act of squeezing blackheads requires prior administration of local anaesthetic. The beautician even tried Incision And Drainage on a pimple on my cheek; hurt like hell, and it’s a scarlet blot now. I finally said “NO” so I’m not going back there anymore.

After that had lunch at the Wisma Atria food court. It’s really quite a nice place with pseudo-ambience and pushcarts with dim sum or drinks. Then it was the usual hunting for working clothes/shoes at major shopping centres in Singapore. I am starting to hate town very much by now.

We entered a side lane just before Centrepoint, walked past a string of bars and ended up in Emerald Hill i.e. Peranakan Place. It was really like stepping into another era; how come such a place exists right in the heart of Orchard Road?

Matsuo Sushi is having some chef’s special presentation menu ($$$!!) this weekend, so they aren’t serving the regular set meals. >.<

Looking forward to something that later gets cancelled isn’t a pleasant experience, but at least I had the looking forward while it lasted.

Some of the saddest cases are the autoimmune diseases, I think. They didn’t ask for it. They didn’t do anything to deserve it. (Unlike how most diabetics usually eat rubbish their whole lives before that fatal fingerprick.) And still, the disease strikes young; it progresses relentlessly, while the present drugs can only struggle in vain to combat the body’s own cells.

While I was scrolling in my web browser, the contents of the window suddenly started jerking up and down. My first thought “Why my computer got nystagmus?” I then realised that my left hand was resting on the scrollpad.

Kaede has grown.

When I sit down, the underside of my breasts sits happily on my belly. I kid you not. I can grip paper between the two surfaces.

Eh. Where is Medicine? Though I suppose Medicine isn’t a major; more like The Only Thing.

Too much TV watching over the past 2 days. Ep 15 of GITS SAC: Oh, it was hilarious to hear a Tachikoma shriek “Memento Mori!” I’m done with episode 17. [A Tachikoma is a tank-like robot. It's bright blue and has a child-like persona.]

I swear I can tell the time by my headaches. They usually start at 10am (if I’m at home) or 7.30pm (every day for the past few days).

I met SJX for coffee at Wiener Kaffeehaus yesterday afternoon. (He forgot my tea, that bum.) We walked big circles around the area before realising that it was just straight ahead of Outram MRT.

2 weeks ago, I should have just told Father “I have a sore throat and blocked nose” the same day I first felt ill. Then he’d have given me Tamiflu and I’d have taken it within the first two days of symptom onset. Then I’d be back exercising in a week. As it is..two weeks of inactivity. I feel sooo fat. My thighs are huge. My calves are huge. Kaede has grown. ARGH. My BMI is 19.7, perfectly ideal, but how many girls actually have ideal BMI hurh?

And to make matters worse, I think I left my camera on my seat at Chomp Chomp last night. that’s it man….. no way I can get it back again. No one had brought it into the police station when I checked. Made a police report, but these things are never optimistic.

I’d been wanting a new camera for years, so my 21st birthday seemed to be the right opportunity for me to persuade Father to get one for me. Well, he even rushed down to the shop with me so I could get it in time for the Bintan trip (before my birthday). Now I’ve lost it, together with a 512MB SD card. I’ve never lost anything of such value before, financially and emotionally. (lose handphone, so what right. lose pda, great, can upgrade.) Adult, can vote already (Aljunied showdown!), but can’t even take care of own things. I meant to buy a new PDA, and possibly a new cameraphone with more megapixels, but I’ll now have to think about replacing my camera first. (SJX says: get a DSLR.) Luckily I’m not going overseas this year.
