I’m excited!

Handbell practices for the alumni items commence this Saturday. The songs are wonderful, and this batch of alumni performers are very good ringers (don’t count me, I’m horribly rusty, I only have brute strength left from going to the gym) and committed people.

PC Fair starts tomorrow. *gleam* GSS is exciting, of course; but it’s nothing compared to the PC Fair. *cackles* [am I a girl or am I not.]

I’m done watching Samurai 7 – didn’t really like the ending. Suddenly Katsuhiro powers up and gains antigravity powers. I’ve also started reading Gokinjo Monogatari, the prequel to Paradise Kiss.

I’ve not said anything particularly insightful on my blog for ages. Ah, what a contented, apathetic life I lead. It’s a slack posting, I’m doing it with people I like, and the holidays are coming.

p.s. after observing plastic surgery operations, I’m very much less inclined to go for any myself. Abdominoplasty *wince* There was this lady in the clinic who had been discharged a few days earlier and was now back for a review. She openly declared “I don’t dare to see the wound!” Aha. If she only knew what actually went on in the operating theatre. It’s this violation of the body, apparently unnecessary in that it’s not life-saving, that gives me the creeps. But who knows, I might just go under the knife in a few decades.

So we went to Orchard in the afternoon to shop during working hours. I got a pair of Guess jeans for $60 (after 70% discount). The rest nodded approvingly like proud mamas and proclaimed, “Behold, the very first branded apparel you possess.”

Penance and I later went to Kinokuniya and browsed through two local restaurant guides. Too expensive, of course. All the great local food blogs are manned by rich people.

Interesting dictionary quiz here.

Today my mentor sighed “You medical students seem to have very little staying power. Well, it’s an elective after all.” We usually disappear from the OT with gnawing tummies. BUT BUT! We once stayed till almost 2pm, just that he wasn’t the surgeon for that operation.

The PC Show runs from 1st June – 4th June, at Suntec. I’m looking to get a new camera then; but the more reviews I read online the more confused and frustrated I get. Ixus 800 or a camera with more manual functions?

AA said (or rather, squealed):

BLEACH BLEACH BLEACH!

Have you watched NANA the movie? I quite like it because Mika Nakashima just *became* NANA. Although not much else can be said about the acting skills of most of the others. The guy they found to play hair-flicking Takumi is quite suitable for the role though.

*shamefaced* I still haven’t started watching Bleach yet; I’m waiting for Brother to dig it out of the deep depths of his room. I loved Mika Nakashima as Nana! It’s rather difficult to think of anyone else as Nana. The only other characters in the Nana movie that I liked were Komatsu Nana, Takumi and Yasu. The clothes are gorgeous ‘cos the mangaka loves Vivienne Westwood XD

I went to Sim Lim Square tonight with Father and Brother, and saw things in perspective once again. A skirt may cost $99, but $99 will comfortably get you a DVD writer with enough left for blank DVDs.

GAAAAAAAAAARGH it’s his fault. I started thinking like a girl only due to his influence. I think I have a stereotypically male brain, save for the insecurities, weight hangups and occasional fangirly outbursts.

Anyway, I love Sim Lim Square. It’s gadget heaven and Father’s second home, which makes it my third or fourth home. It’s ugly, there’s no decor whatsoever;the shops are packed with people and technology;

Penance and I revisited Ken Noodle House at Orchard Plaza for lunch yesterday.

Stewed egg and char siew ramen ($12). The soup had been double boiled for 8 hours, according to the menu. Well, it was thick, salty and very tasty without making one thirsty. The ramen is erm…very “springy”, which I really liked. The char siew’s fantastic. And the egg! See next photo.

The stewed egg that came with my ramen. The yolk is rather solid on the outside, but has an almost liquid interior. I don’t think I managed to capture that textural difference in this photo, however. I don’t know what they do to the egg, but it tastes wonderful i.e. not just egg-y.

Shopping during GSS is quite a task. At Robinson’s, queues for fitting rooms were long. Discounts were not too bad on some items, so I got black pants. There was this gorgeous skirt that we first saw (“we” because Penance is usually the one to pick out nice clothes and gush “nice skirt!” before I even glance at that rack.) months ago. It’s now $99, down from $199; I’m really tempted to get it, but $99 is still too much.

Zara has a wonderful colour palette this season, but their sale hasn’t started. It’s strange, but not too long ago nothing at Zara caught my fancy; but now there are items that I want to own, even printed dresses. I’m getting old.

My shopping motto should be: don’t look, won’t know, won’t feel sad abt not buying

Here’s a couple taking a breather during the sale. The lady must’ve been through a lot of plastic surgery to look so…well, plastic.

The absence of any real blogging over the past week can be attributed to my current indifference to my daily activities. Surgery just doesn’t interest me; and I’m intimidated by the self-confidence that surgeons just seem to ooze. I’ve embarrassed myself rather badly on several occasions.

The fun part about this posting is my “clinical group”, which consists of Turtlewoman, Tata Young, Takashi Kanasai, Penance, Rainfan, Mandy and Mandy’s boyfriend. Rainfan is a really nice girl; I’m glad she’ll be my CGmate for the whole of Year 4. My old gang’s on the same wavelength, so I’m really happy talking rubbish with them and making warding signs to keep away the evil of PDA. The other fun part is the slackness of the posting. We made our way down to TTSH this afternoon to take advantage of the 50% discount for staff and students.

After finishing GITS: 2nd GIG yesterday, I watched the 2nd movie, Ghost in the Shell: Innocence today afternoon. And was subsequently felt rather lost and purposeless after that was done. There’s a continuation of the 2nd GIG, is it out already? Tonight I whiled my time away doing the usual i.e. staring at the screen and clicking aimlessly. I..need to get out more often.

I finished watching Ghost in the Shell: 2nd GIG last night. The last episode was one of the best episodes in the two seasons.

Lucify got through the revival round. YATTA~

It’s comical how a simple act of booking tickets for a group of people has spiralled into a touchy mess.

This movie had better be worth it, dammit.

Just tore my hair out trying to book tickets. It was an unlucky combination of procrastination, the usual herd-like and kiasu mentality of the general public, screwed up movie sites with technical errors (what, servers also take breaks on Sunday nights?), and an impatient and irritable personality. The Da Vinci Code had BETTER be worth me spending money on dinner, petrol, movie ticket, and time on watching and driving home late at night that I could spend on watching Bleach. Judging from the reviews, Bleach is probably more entertaining.
