Every 6 hours or so, Mother stares at the basket of confections and omiage that my family bought back from Osaka and Kyoto and mutters, “What were they thinking…” I think they went crazy at the 100yen shop. Myself, I’d have bought back more of the bottled green tea – unsweetened, just like how green tea is meant to be. It costs S$3 at Cold Storage, but only 150yen from a vending machine in Japan.

Back to work.

I haven’t been blogging. I’m panicking, actually. There’s so much I haven’t read through, let alone getting to the stage of forcing my neurons to make the relevant (and permanent, hopefully) connections. They say you need to tell medical students something 6 times before they remember it. I agree.

5 episodes into Red Garden, and I still have no idea why it’s called Red Garden. Still, it’s an intriguing anime that’s too intense for comfort at some points. I don’t feel happy watching each episode, yet I can’t wait for the next.

I want to watch Pan’s Labyrinth! It looks absolutely stunning. qiong’s put up so many trailer links on her blog; that’s evil ‘cos I’m getting distracted. So that’s one more to my list of eagerly awaited movies. (Eragon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Stardust)

Haven’t been doing much. I’m starting to panic again. eep.

Dinner on Friday was at Aburiya. I always seem to be going to Aburiya to celebrate birthdays, the first time being lynn’s. Thanks to lynn, this is probably the only place that I’ve discovered before reading about it in newspapers or magazines.

I think we ordered way too much for three people ^^; The rice dishes were both larger than expected. We let Penance do the cooking; but as all guys are, he cared only for the meat. I lost some mushrooms in the process.

Tenderloin
Tenderloin. This was the cheapest beef dish we ordered, but I liked it best because it was strong-tasting, juicy and chewable.

meats
Clockwise from top left:
1. Wagyu jo karubi (short rib)
2. Outside skirt
3. Kurobuta pork belly
4. Ribeye

Such a carnivorous evening. I think my tongue isn’t a high class one, because I don’t see why people like wagyu so much. It’s fatty, and tastes less of beef than I like, but I’ll still eat it ‘cos it’s meat. The ribeye was fantastic.

Shitake mushrooms
Shitake mushrooms.

Bibinba
Bibinba. For some reason Penance ordered the large bowl. Crazy fellow. But the bibinba is really very tasty and just moist enough.

Chahan
Chahan. Nice, but I prefer the one at Ohsho at Cuppage.

Just feeling a bit down right now. My family will be in Kobe and Kyoto till Wednesday, while I’ll be shivering in various OTs till then. (Should I even be publishing this online? Will people come to rob me?) If not for the stupid 7.30am Q&As that are counted in the final grade, I’d happily miss the OT postings and go to Japan. Thankfully Monday’s night call, so that’s one less night going home to an empty home. Argh how do people stand living alone?

Went out for dinner to celebrate lynn’s birthday with the rest of the gang. We ended up at some steamboat place at ICON@Bugis. Ordering the mala soup was a mistake; it came with what must have been three inches of chilli oil. Kat and I scooped out two bowfuls of oil.

On a happier note, check out The Story of Slimderella. Bravo, Joyce!

I’m really not looking forward to the next 4 weeks >.< Egghead-on-bowtie is a horribly anal fellow, but I guess one does learn a lot if one puts in the tremendous effort that he demands.
Sucks that EOY is on the last day of my week-long exams (okay, not really exams, but it’s counted in my graduation grade!) and…I’m not halfway done, argh.

Some funny snippets from yesterday.

There was this lady who was instructed not to take anything by mouth as she was going for an operation later. We found her at the nursing counter, demanding “Nurse! I’m very thirsty! I need a drip NOW!” The first time I’ve heard someone ask for a drip to quench her thirst.

To rojak: yes, my brother can drive already! He’s 19 years old now, 3 years younger than us. Feeling old? heh heh heh.

My family will be away for 5 days next week. They’re going to Osaka and Kyoto, courtesy of some pharmaceutical company. GRR. I’m staying behind, of course. @($$@#(#*$&

Haven’t been doing much at all, hence the lack of blogging. Er. Brother drove me all the way to Jurong East library today so I could borrow book 7 of The Wheel of Time. It finally seems like things are happening.

The superglue label warns the user that using too much glue will result in a poorer bond. The proper way is to use just enough glue, and hold the apposed surfaces for a sufficient lenght of time. That’s akin to buying a textbook with too many words for any to stick; it’s better to get one with fewer words, and read it over and over.

Argh. Now this part degenerates into a rant.

WHY WHY WHY did I buy Hacker instead of Llewllyn-Jones? It rambles so! Everyone I asked for advice told me that Llwellyn-Jones was easier to read, though less comprehensive in terms of detail; but no one told me that more than half the topics in the syllabus recommended further reading from chapters in Llewllyn-Jones and not Hacker!

Wahahaha! *hyperventilates* The owner of Basil Alcove, Xander, commented on my post. No idea how he found it, since a google search for “basil alcove” doesn’t show my site.
[edit: #3 on yahoo! YAHOO!!!]

Anyway, I did absolutely NOTHING today.

Thus concludes a meaningless post.

More changes coming to the radioblog soon, I promise. After I finally buy the new MCR album. (Not my fault, I haven’t been near a record shop for ages.)

Nothing much happening at all. Will recount funny incident.

(This occured on the way to Fortune Centre, which is on Middle Road)

Me: Aiyah. I’m on the right lane. *looks at signboard which indicates a left turn for Middle Road* I need to change lanes to get to Middle Road. *awkwardly swerves into centre lane just before traffic light turns red* one down, one more to go.

Penance: Huh? This lane is okay what.

Me: *ignores insignificant chatter at left ear* Light’s green! *swerves into left lane. car moves nearer signboard ahead*

Penance: OH. You mean the road called Middle Road!!! I thought it was literally middle road and your car seemed fine staying in the middle lane.

Me: *presses EJECT button to propel Penance out of the car*

Well, it was funny at that time.

I have to go to Johor on a weekday to reactivate my bank account because I left it sitting for 6 months. DAMN! Because I forgot to pass the dividend cheque to my aunt a few months ago so she cold help me bank it in. DAMN! #*@#($& I really don’t want to miss any part of the posting. Grr. You reap what you sow.
