Rushed down to NUS after work to collect my commencement gown today. Got there, saw the queues and some classmates already in the middle of one. They quipped, “Don’t you wish you had opted for home delivery?” I was queuing with another classmate who said, “This is a very big thing for my family.” I suppose, since I’ve already started work, commencement is just another day in the calendar for me; I’ve marked it on my planner with the same neutrality that I mark my night calls. Hm. Anyway, the ordeal wasn’t over! After getting my gown and two allocated invitation cards, there were still a number of stations that I had to pass through: library fines counter, alumni dinner ticket counter, photography counter, frames counter… and finally, just when I was about tear open a packet of Meiji strawberry biscuits and step through the exit, some Prudential fellow shoved a questionnaire into my hands and asked, “Are you a teacher?” as I was filling it up.
(Okay fine, there are some rather enthusiastic M3s following my team now, and I do try to impart my limited knowledge; but most of the time I’m doing admin saikang in the ward and being very stressed because time is of the essence all the time, which doesn’t go well with my kancheong spider personality, which ends up in things not being very interesting for them.)

The Big Read Meme~
So is it true the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed?
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who’ve only read 6 and force books upon them

Cut my hair at Chapter 2 at Marina Square yesterday. I really think it needs some highlights to bring out the layers, but we’ll see. My hairstylist seriously channelled Jay Chou in his dressing; and I wasn’t too surprised to see the word Jay on his namecard. But otherwise, I am happy with my hair. I really need to get more adventurous.
Made a big mistake yesterday too.
In happier news, I’m now 4 episodes away from being up-to-date with Code Geass R2. It is <i>so twisted</i>, but I can’t stop watching. There isn’t much this anime season that really catches my eye; so I’m just following Code Geass and Macross Frontier. And filling up the rest of my time with escapist doramas and Pushing Daisies.

So I finished episodes 20-25 of Code Geass R1 tonight, and went on to watch the first episode of the 2nd season because the first ended on a bloody cliffhanger.
Am tired. But my main thoughts are:
1. OMG THE MELODRAMA.
2. I like how the battles are painful to watch because war IS painful.
3. Very tired now. Too much angst.
More later. Too many unanswered questions for R2 to wrap up. Am very frustrated.
Anyway at work we are all sick. I have lost my voice. My consultant looks dead. My registrar coughs more than I do and griped today, “I want to give myself MC.” My previous team MO bumped into me today and said, “There’s some bug spreading around the HOs, isn’t there.” Your concern for our welfare is noted.

Sometimes, it is the funny things that stay in one’s mind.
It was the day after my last harrowing active call with team 3. The MO on call and my fellow HO, Ph, were in the lift in me.
Ph: come, I tell you a qian bian joke.
Me: err no need it’s okay.
Ph: I insist.
Me: okay go ahead.
Ph: What’s the difference between a char siew bao and a piece of bread?
Me and MO: *too tired to bother thinking for a stupid qianbian joke* Don’t know don’t care. Just spit it out.
Ph: A char siew bao has feelings, but a piece of bread doesn’t!
Me and MO: that is SO NOT FUNNY.
Ph: Wait, got part two. What’s the difference between a char siew bao and a lian yong bao?
Me and MO: Whatever.
Ph: They have different feeeeeelings.
Me and MO: *started laughing maniacally all the way from the lift to the ward because it was so retarded and so un-funny and because we were too tired to let our logical thought gateways function*
And I saw it coming the day I applied to university:
Patient (a 60-year-old uncle): What is your name?
Me: Dr Hu.
Patient: AH! I used to read the books when I was young!
Me: Ah…*finally it happens* yes I have heard of that but never had a chance to read them…

Argh. I was so looking forward to the orange jumper shoot, but I just HAD to come down with flu yesterday afternoon. Currently, my throat still hurts badly. Thankfully today is my first day off in 6 weeks, so I’ve been doing nothing except sleep and watch stuff since I got home yesterday. GARGH. I am now watching season 1 of Code Geass right from the start because I don’t remember what happened in the first five episodes that I watched some months ago.
Once again, feel free to ask me for the password to the protected posts.
