Donuts from Donut Factory

The hospital has been celebrating Nurses’ Day the whole week (there isn’t a Doctors’ Day, is there?), so we snuck out to Donut Factory during lunch and carted back a few dozens for the ward staff. I’ll be really sad to leave this ward; what with the colleagues I’ve grown closer to, and the staff nurses that yelled at me this morning “Dr H! Come back next month!”

But. Anyway. The donuts from Donut Factory are way too sweet, creamy and oily. I miss Mister Donut, dammit.

So I watched Harry Potter: The Half- Blood Prince on the day it opened. I was actually post-call that day, had no intention of watching or, and had nor bothered to get the free tickets that the department had been giving out to the staff.

At lunch, I was queueing at a stall when I received a call from “Unknown”. Must be some overseas China person trying to scam me, I thought. NO. It was rie, that crazy woman, calling me all the way from the States to tell me “I just watched Harry Potter and it was freakin awesome!”

I screamed into my iPhone, “YOU CALLED ME FROM THE STATES JUST TO TELL ME THAT YOU WATCHED HARRY POTTER?”

I’m falling in deeper, really. But no! Must NOT go against my principles.
Just four more days.

I slept an 8-hour stretch! The difference a good, long night’s sleep has is amazing.
Though I promptly depressed myself after I got to my workplace and starting using the computer.

I subscribe to the jrock_blogs LJ community, where blog entries from several bands are translated. So Jui, Vidoll’s vocalist, blogged about missing visiting his little sister’s grave on her death anniversary because the band was on tour.

Vidoll – Sister (live).
Damn near cried. Even though I’ve never really listened to Vidoll before.
Depressing stuff. It shouldn’t happen, it really shouldn’t.

It’s 9.30pm, my computer’s dead, and there’s only so much I can do on my iPhone. I need to blog about CoRngregation on Monday and my maiden foray into Ion Orchard yesterday, and how I cancelled my gym session today like a weakling because I had the sniffles. (But I took my temperature thrice today! Not febrile.) oh, and how we left our bags in the ward and took the MRT to Toa Payoh at 5.15 jut to buy bubble tea
from Koi Tea.

So I’m just going to go to bed now and hope for a good call tomorrow.

And well, my 十八变 isn’t going anywhere. One more week left! – painfully thankfully.

So we have a patient who keeps ripping out her plugs even though she needs her fluids and inotropes.

3pm saw myself and my junior attacking her veins with diminishing gusto.

patient: DON’T WANT! TOMORROW LAH!
me: Aunty, if I don’t do this, you might not HAVE A TOMORROW.
my senior: *just stepping inside the curtains*… oh my.

Okay. Is just randomness.

I’m glad I was on call on the 25th.

A senior colleague passed away last night. From all accounts, he was a humble, dedicated clinician who was more than a friend to his colleagues; I wish I’d had the honour of knowing him personally.

To a friend: please take care of yourself. I’m happy that you let me be there for you; and I’m glad my sole black toenail made you giggle just for those three seconds.

On call now.

My HO is from the same JC as me. We were just talking…

me: so, which bed were you from?
HO: er?
me: no wait, I mean which *almost says “ward”* -long pause- CLASS were you from?

*some minutes later*

me: oh, you know my batchmate JX?
HO: OF COURSE! He’s my counsellor. From the same ward – OMG I mean CLASS.

WE ARE SO GONE.

So it was team dinner today at Curry Favour! Boss’ treat, though we tried to wriggle out of that.

Rosu curry
Rosu curry for me.

ward 9D team
And the team.

Had a lot of fun at dinner. I love my bosses and my colleagues this rotation XD I’ve actually been looking forward to going to work each day, instead of wishing each morning that I were already at home. ISOTOPE, HURRY UP AND DEGRADE! T_T

Went to karaoke with my JC classmates on Sunday at Partyworld Liang Court. I usually don’t realize how much I miss these people until after I’ve met up with them. Was late because of Japanese class, so didn’t get to sing as much as I’d have liked. Was mangling Mayday’s ye fang xi xue gui with gusto while the guys were dying at the epicness that is the MV. “PL, where do you find such songs O.O”

Dinner at SaiZeriya.
