Usual suspects: plhu and rie.
Cameo: X (a guy friend of mine.)

It all started when I spammed a youtube link to “Been So Long” by Jaejoong and Yoochun and X posted a response.

In window A:

X: aaahhhh they’re so cute!!!!! but why just the 2 of them?
Me: they are doing ’solo’ish stuff? the other members are also doing dramas or collaborations with other singers. glad you like them XD

In window B:
me: rie, my friend has posted “They’re so cute!’ on the jaechun been so long song i spammed on my FB XD
rie: yay, spam more! can you spam with the rest of dbsk? so he can see yunho, the apparent #1 on the gay list.

The last time this happened was during Paeds. I was fine when I woke up, really! It all started during ward rounds. I started sneezing; my nose started running like the Niagara Falls; and I found myself having to wipe my nose every five seconds.

And they just HAD to call me to see new cases in the H1N1-admitting ward, of all the irony. Took the afternoon off; dosed myself with sedative antihistamines at home, and stopped sneezing. I conclude that I’m allergic to work!

Made rather good headway with some photo editing after dinner, but I still have a really, really long way to go. Some photos are up on Facebook, but the definitive travel blogposts will come only some time later.

Alright, I’m really tired of editing my Japan trip photos, so here’s a short break with some food spammage.

Was at Cafe Hacienda on 21/9/09; my maiden foray into Dempsey Hill. It’s a small, cosy, quiet place with books lining one wall.

Milkshake
The milkshakes are recommended, so I got the coffee one (it has a fancy name that I can’t really recall). Too sweet, too creamy! Loved it for the first 150ml.

Beef burger
And one of the burgers (either the LA or the New York, I can’t recall T_T) with a juicy patty that melts so easily.

Took the Shinkansen to Kyoto with Victor. We actually got onto the wrong train, but were save by a fellow passenger who could speak English. Je told us we could get off at the next station to change to the right train; ad even used his handphone to find outyhe time of arrival of that train. Was moved to tears, really.

Arrived at Kyoto station on the dot. Our ryokan, Yamashiroya Ryokan, is only a three minute walk from the station. It’s run by a very friendly middle-aged lady who speaks almost no English. Left our bags there.

Apologies for being rather quiet lately. Work, calls, late nights and nothing much really happening.

Met up with my sister and two Japanese exchange students for dinner, puri and dessert last Saturday. There’s Yuri-san, who’s half-Chinese; and Erika-san, who’s a Plastic Tree fan too! (well, after Pierrot, anyway.)

Am now finally settled in a ward after two weeks of clinics. My fellow MO is my batchmate. It’s scary to see how jaded she’s become, especially since sheathe last person I’d have expected to be so cynical so early on.

Am about to embark on something potentially life-changing with my DLP!

Heyo! Because I have two groups of friends who’ll be going to Tokyo soon and are asking me for recommendations on where to eat and shop, here’s a compliation post of the places I’ve been to. I’m probably not even scraping the smallest icicle on the tip of the iceberg; so if anyone would like to recommend anything, please leave a comment too!

Firstly, bento.com is a great resource.

For sushi, I’ve been to the various sushi restaurants around Tsukiji Fish Market. Daiwa Sushi and Sushi Dai are the two joints with the longest queues. Try also Sushi Zanmai, which has the original shop, and a smaller branch in the same region.

Have been really tired since I came back from Japan.

I was on call on Thursday 10 September. Slept about 1 hour that night (could have slept more, but I spent 1 hour chatting with a colleague who had been admitted); then went home at 5 pm on Friday. I got into bed at 6.30pm and set my alarm for 9pm. I awoke by myself in a panic, after a really, really long dream, and wondered “err…what day is it! OMG is it already Saturday?” – because I had no recollection of doing anything like brushing my teeth or putting on my face creams. The clock said 5.30am. SIGH. I realised that I’d set the alarm as 9:00 instead of 21:00. WTF.

Was on call again on the following Tuesday. No sleep on call; but I got home at 3pm on Wednesday. I slept after dinner, making sure to set the alarm as 21:00. This time, I woke up at 5:15am the following day. Why? Because the ringing volume on my iPhone was at the lowest setting. *facepalms*

I’m just going to use my work phone as an alarm the next time T_T

I woke up to a rainy morning. The weather forecast said the rain wouldn’t clear the entire day; so a quick SMS exchange with Victor transpired and we ditched our plans to go to DisneySea today.

I sat around and bummed in Shuui’s room for the morning. It was the best morning I’ve had for a while: blogging and writing postcards on the floor, watching DBSK concert videos, with raindrops in the background and a chilly breeze in my hair. Had toast and marmalade for breakfast. (100yen for a big tub of marmalade that tastes like you’re spreading oranges onto your toast!)

I met Shuui for lunch at COCO Ichibanya Curry at Shinjuku.

Woke up to a windy morning with overcast skies – so very Pura.

Headed to Asakusa. It’s…like a pilgrimge each time I come to Tokyo, nevermind the blatant tourist traps on the path leading to the temple. I got the talismans, ate a gigantic redbean mochi, and was asked for help by this gorgeous blonde French dude with the clearest green eyes. Apparently he was lost and needed to call his friend. I think this must be only circumstance where a Frenchman would be happy to bump into someone English-speaking. Declined all help when he realized I wasn’t local, so. (damn, should have whipped out my iPhone and insisted.)

Got back and had a supermarket bento for lunch with min and Shuui in the lounge over some bitching.

Central Road
The road leading to shuui’s abode.

Headed out again for the concert.

Matsuri
I caught two more matsuri groups on the street admist a heavy drizzle. I just love this kind of weather.

Details of the concert are in this post -newly updated with photos :)
