Archive for March, 2010

Here begins the series of my Hong Kong trip journal entries. Left via Jetstar on 25th March, returning on 29th March. It was a good trip going with the fridge as he speaks Cantonese, so ordering food and bantering with salesgirls was left to him.

sunrise2
The mandatory sunrise photo from the airplane. It was good coincidence that WH had gotten me a window seat on the right side of the plane.

Left our baggage at Royal Plaza Hotel, and wasted no time in going straight to Maxim’s Palace at City Hall for dimsum. The weather was wonderful, a cool, breezy 19 degrees. Photo alert ahead. More photos at my flickr because I don’t want to crowd the journal entries.

At Terminal 1 now. See you all when I return next week.

Six months.
There’s still a long way to go.

When I first heard previews of the song, I thought that Toki wo Tomete sounded like the average Jpop concoction. It still does, but it’ll probably grow on me. The PV is unexpectedly beautiful, with the starry backdrop and simple flashback scenes. Jaejoong looks like an angel here with his light gold hair and impossibly perfect skin.

Started having a horribly scratchy throat last Friday night. I took so many Fisherman Friends over Saturday evening that Sunday morning saw me still with a scratchy throat (seemed like my throat had become a carpet, every intake of breath ruffling the carpet hairs), an occasional but not uncontrollable cough, and iatrogenic diarrhea.

The wonderful thing was that: after I went on call on Sunday night, my sore throat disappeared! The bad thing was, the cough became uncontrollable, so there I was happily sampling the stock of promethazine cough syrup during the night.

It’s Tuesday. The cough’s occasional, but my ears and nose are blocked and my nose has started to run. Wish I could take some really sedative antihistamines and sleep things off but I’m resus shift tonight! Lol. The adrenaline had better work its healing magic.

Watched the Nodame Cantabile movie (part 1!) with lynn and karyn yesterday. I didn’t stop laughing for the first 75% of the movie. LOVED IT. Spoilers below.

OMG prayers have FINALLY been answered!
I got my DBSK Best Selection 2010 in the post from Shuui, and I finally got a Jaejoong postcard! rie got her Yunho postcard. FINALLY. *squees*

So we were having lunch at Thai Noodle House last Sunday. It was a day of coincidences, me bumping into Shmeen and Soon Wee at the carpark; and WH bumping into his ex-councilmate.

Beef noodles
My beef noodles.

Anyway, the point of this post: it was pouring when we got up to leave, so had to walk back in and order dessert while waiting for the right to lighten. It was still raining when we left the second time, but the boy at the shop handed us a opened umbrella as we stepped out of the door, saying “You can have this, we don’t need it back.”

Totally awesome.

I took the plunge!

So I was at ICON at Isetan Wisma Atria, having booked an appointment with a stylist recommended by a friend.

me: I want something edgy.
stylist: can cut short?
me: *pauses* yes.
stylist: how short?
me: chin length. If any shorter I’ll look fat cos my cheeks are round!
stylist: LOL that’s what all girls say. But not true. You’d look good with even shorter hair. But since so long now, let’s not go too short this time.
me: *phew*
stylist: okay, I decide style?
me: *pauses* okay.

On Sunday we had dinner at Shashlik, a cosy restaurant tucked away in a corner of the sixth floor of Far East Shopping Centre. I’d been meaning to go there ever since Deepblue told me about the place many years ago, but somehow never did get the chance to.
