Archive for April, 2010

So I went for the Mayday concert at the National Stadium on April 17 2010, Saturday, with lynn and WH.

Getting there was easy, thanks to the Circle Line which opened the same day.
Getting into the Stadium was an extremely painful process: only two gates for thousands of people, no directions or signage whatsoever, with said gates opening at around 7.30pm (the time that the concert was slated to begin, mind), long snaking queues with limbs of the snakes merging into one another; it was a miracle that we got to our seats before the concert began at 8.30pm.

Our seats at the grandstand weren’t too bad!

I’m just going to put up my Occlumency pools and shove everything in, so I can function.

Slytherin cool. Slytherin patience.

Too many things to worry about.
Too much depressing HD fic.
Too little sleep.
Stupid complaint letter in my email that I was supposed to draft a reply two days ago, just that I only received said email today.
Too much construction work going on next door. They’re hacking down the walls now.

*screams into pillow*

I need a bloody Silencing Charm at my command.

Add a Vanishing Charm for said Complainer.

Very random post.

I’ve been missing online because almost every free waking moment is spend reading this awesome Harry/Draco fic, Sacrifices by Lighting on the Wave. The author rewrote all seven books into intricate plots, peppered with very well thought-out magical details. I’m hooked. It’s dark, depressing, but horribly addictive. At book 6 now XD.

Watched Huang Cheng at Victoria Concert Hall with raydance on 10/4/10, Saturday. I’d thought the location was at HCJC; luckily I confirmed the venue with her an hour before it started. They had three plays, all very depressing with nary a ray of hope. (Seventeen/eighteen-year-olds, please look at the world with happier eyes, thank you.) Loved the omake trio who did hilarious skits between the three plays, though.

And finished the final episode of Kimi ni Todoke tonight. Probably the most beautifully drawn episode and a fitting end to the series. Loved that scene where they were at the snow-covered steps and he held out his hand to her so she wouldn’t slip. It’s been a simple, heartwarming series with memorable characters. I hope there’ll be a second season.

29 March 2010, Monday.

Tried to stuff my loot into my luggage, but ended up sneaking some into WH’s. We had brunch again at the fishball shop, then headed to the shoe shop at Gala Place. I liked a pair of shoes, but they didn’t have it in my size; so the shopgirl said she’d bring my size over from another branch, and asked us to return at 3pm. I’m just impressed at the service here, really. (I did return at 3pm, and I did buy that pair of heels.)

Did some last minute shopping at Tsim Sha Tsui, where we wandered into Tough Jeansmith and I glared at WH for not telling me exactly what he was saying to the shopgirl in Cantonese.

At the airport.

Goodbye, Hong Kong. I’ll miss the food, the shopping, the bubble tea (damn you guys are lucky, can more Taiwan chains PLEASE come to Singapore soon!) and how people stand on one side of the escalator 90% of the time.

28 March 2010, Sunday

Grabbed breakfast from a bakery and headed to the ferry terminal. Good, sunny weather, that made me pespire for the first time in Hong Kong. It being Sunday, it was too crowded, especially at Immigrations over at Macau. We stopped for lunch at Cafe Honolulu while walking to Guia Hill.

Guia Hill is connected to the Flower Garden by a short cable car ride, but it’s very feasible to walk up.

27 March 2010, Saturday

Woke up almost too late to receive Teresa, who crashed our hotel room before showing us around Mongkok while she did some errands.

Teresa and me.
Teresa, all made up as she was attending a wedding later.

WH and me.

Got bubble tea from 贡茶, which Teresa says is her favourite bubble tea chain. The variety is simply amazing; probably close to 70 items on the menu. I’m a big fan of the variations on Chinese teas.
