Shashlik

On Sunday we had dinner at Shashlik, a cosy restaurant tucked away in a corner of the sixth floor of Far East Shopping Centre. I’d been meaning to go there ever since Deepblue told me about the place many years ago, but somehow never did get the chance to.

Started with escargot – half a dozen. They were really good, so we ordered another half-dozen while waiting for the main courses.

My beef stroganoff. Very tender; went very well with the mildly sweetish butter rice.

My date’s shaslik of chicken. I’m definitely taking a shashlik next time.

Dessert was the baked Alaska, a helping for two persons. The waitress arrived, poured alcohol over the outer covering of meringue, then set it aflame. XD XD Very fun to watch. Otherwise, this dessert was way too sweet for me. Saccharine, fluffy meringue with an inner core of vanilla ice-cream that didn’t seem as sweet in comparison.
Collapsed right after I got home. Very post-prandial; after a busy day at resus where I left the resus room 2 hours after my shift ended, gargh.

Wow, I didn’t know Shashlik was this good. Going to make it my next must-go restaurant.
Their beef and chicken shashliks are the best, but i like the carpet bag steak as well, and the goose liver pate one, i think it’s called something like tournadoss rosinni or something.
You can also try the banana flambe next time, if you want something different from the Alaska but still want to see something set on fire.
