Because Cocotte has been featured so often in the press of late, and because we were sorely tempted by the rave reviews of the roast chicken, fridge and I found our way there last Friday.
Cocotte is a newly-established French restaurant sited at the ground floor of Wanderlust, a new hotel incongruously sited in Little India. (It’s also a five-minute walk from Sim Lim Square, but that’s random information.)

The interior is charming and very cosy.

Hokkaido scallops.

We shared the Poulet rĂ´ti, or roast chicken; marinated in herbs for two days and then roasted in herb butter before making its way to our table. The preparation time was forty-five minutes, so we ordered it right before looking at the rest of the menu.

Tender, flavourful, and absolutely delightful.
Mission accomplished.
Photos up.
(And then we headed to Toa Payoh for Koi tea.)
I think I’ve lost the ability to blog after using Twitter.

26 March, Friday

We bought bubble tea again, first thing after leaving the hotel.

They actually paste your order onto to the drink.

Here begins the series of my Hong Kong trip journal entries. Left via Jetstar on 25th March, returning on 29th March. It was a good trip going with the fridge as he speaks Cantonese, so ordering food and bantering with salesgirls was left to him.

The mandatory sunrise photo from the airplane. It was good coincidence that WH had gotten me a window seat on the right side of the plane.
Left our baggage at Royal Plaza Hotel, and wasted no time in going straight to Maxim’s Palace at City Hall for dimsum. The weather was wonderful, a cool, breezy 19 degrees. Photo alert ahead. More photos at my flickr because I don’t want to crowd the journal entries.

On Sunday we had dinner at Shashlik, a cosy restaurant tucked away in a corner of the sixth floor of Far East Shopping Centre. I’d been meaning to go there ever since Deepblue told me about the place many years ago, but somehow never did get the chance to.

Thank goodness for the weekend. My CNY Day 1 is free-ish since I end work at 8am that day, so am rather looking forward to that. Will need lots of concealer on that day, though!
Had dinner at Chang Korean BBQ at Dempsey yesterday. Photo alert!

So I was on leave from Monday to Saturday (1-6 February) last week. It was a good break, with lots of meeting ups, too much food, and too little spring-cleaning.
Monday: spent bumming at home; fridge came over.
Tuesday: shopping and dinner with lynn.
Wednesday: Big Night Out! MUSE LIVE XD XD
Thursday: went to hospital for lectures after getting home late from the live (dies).
Friday: dinner with ying, songster, ko, Richard at Saizeriya; plus Photoshop tutorial at Starbucks after XD XD
Saturday: dinner with fridge. Wherein lies the second part of this post with foodpron.
Sunday (okay, not counted as leave but it’s still a weekend): started shift at 7am (dies again); and finally, dinner out with my family. Haven’t really had dinner with them for ages. And spent more money at Bugis Village. I Swear, no more CNY shopping for me!

Curry bread from the Hokkaido food fair at the basement of Isetan. Scorching, thick, sweet curry walled in by crispy dough; perfect IF it were winter, lol. This was lunch before going for class yesterday.
I’m on leave for a few days. I intend to:
1. Clear up my room – my Japan loot is still sitting in a box from September 2009.
2. Drink 2 litres of water each day.
3. Sleep at least eight hours a day.

So I met up with ying for dinner today. We went to Ootoya at Orchard Central, which boasts calorie counts on their menu pages. I kinda just died there. OMG, 1200kcal for a katsu set. OMG. *dies* OMG. That’s like my calorie requirement for ONE DAY.

Got the set with steamed hotate rice and chicken/egg broth. 751 kcal!!
Then went on to ION, where we fell in love with the stationery at Kikik.K.
But the real highlight of the evening was the window shopping.

I woke up late on 24 October 2009, a Saturday for once. I was born on a Wesdnesday, child full of woe, which probably accounts for my melancholic song choices. Feeling rather headache-y and flu-ish, I only dragged myself out of bed to watch the Visual Rock Festival online. OMG. I’m ecstatic they actually managed to broadcast it live for the overseas audience. Caught D’espairsRay performing Redeemer and Garnet; and was so happy they switched over to Plastic Tree on a different stage after. They played Makka na Ito, Melt and Baria. XD. Can’t freakin wait for the new single.
And today, I rushed home from work to watch bits of the festival before heading to town for Japanese class. Managed to see Matenrou Opera. They’re fast moving up in my list of favourite bands! And La’cryma Christi announced their reunion; albeit only for a year, but I do hope they’ll extend further.
Also caught raydance at the Black Alice booth at ISETAN and shamelessly helped myself to the candy buffet.
Dinner yesterday was omakase at Nagomi at Cuppage Plaza, a small, cosy restaurant that we’d have missed if we hadn’t known the exact store number. The owner/chef is a very charming gentleman who explains every dish served. Photos ahead!

I’ll explain the title eventually in this post! After putting you readers through a long drabble of how my day went, of course.
I met rie for lunch at Mr Curry. Our original plan to sing KTV at Ang Mo Kio was shelved because of her sore throat. On my way there, I was wracked with the worst cramps I’ve had for a few years; bought paracetamol, gulped it down; and proceeded to writh with agony on the couch at Mr Curry while rie oohed and aahed over the DBSK’s Prince in Prague photobook I’d passed her. I’d also brought along a Yunho postcard for her. (The photoboook and postcard are key items in today’s storytelling. Please remember them.)
